Lexington, Kentucky (Nov. 10, 2023) — The American Volleyball Coaches Association has established Volleyball 4 All as the collective philanthropic fund to support the association’s scholarships, social programs, and grassroot initiatives.
“I am so excited to launch this comprehensive initiative to enhance, and expand on, the admirable work being done by our membership,” says Dr. Jaime Gordon, AVCA CEO. “Volleyball is experiencing unprecedented growth, and as stewards of the game, we have a responsibility to expand efforts to ensure volleyball is accessible to everyone.”
The association’s current scholarship programs include the Diversity Awards, Coaches 4 Coaches, and Student-Athlete Demonstrator Scholarships. Each of these programs, which bring recipients to the AVCA Convention, will now fall under the Volleyball 4 All umbrella.
The Diversity Awards and Coaches 4 Coaches scholarships have awarded more than 350 recipients the opportunities to learn from—and be mentored by—some of the best coaches in the profession. The Student-Athlete Demonstrator Scholarship awards help current collegiate student-athletes who aspire to coach to attend Convention and get an insider’s look at the profession, in exchange for providing their skills during on-court education sessions.
Additional programs and collaborations with other organizations to provide skill instruction to athletes, education to coaches, and accessibility to those in low-resource communities will be expanded and introduced in the new year.
“The integrity and generosity of the volleyball community is humbling,” says Gordon. “I look forward to sharing some inspiring commitments to Volleyball 4 All from companies and individuals, which will help the AVCA serve the community of volleyball in more significant ways.”
