Oregon Sanctions Boys Varsity Volleyball
The Delegate Assembly of the Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) voted in boys volleyball as an OSAA-sanctioned activity at the assembly’s Oct. 6 meeting. Boys volleyball will begin its first season as a sanctioned activity in the Spring of 2026 following two years as an emerging activity. It is the first activity to join the association’s offering since girls wrestling was voted in by the Delegate Assembly ahead of the 2023-24 association year.
Oregon is the 26th state to add boys volleyball as a sanctioned activity. Check out the updated map of varsity sanctioned states:
In 22 seasons at the helm of the program, Knipe has guided the Beach to 450 wins (for a .723 winning percentage) and has coached seven AVCA National Collegiate Players of the Year. He also has been part of all four of the school’s NCAA men’s titles—first in 1991 as a player and then as the coach of the 2018, 2019, and 2025 championship teams.
The induction ceremony will take place Thursday, Dec. 18, during the 2025 AVCA Convention in Kansas City, Missouri.
The 2025 AVCA Boys Showcase will take place at the Kansas City Convention Center in Kansas City, Missouri on Saturday, December 20. The cost $99 per athlete prior to Friday, November 21.
For an additional $25, athletes can take part in the AVCA Boys Showcase Clinic in the evening on Friday, December 19 at the convention center. Registered athletes will have a chance to learn and develop their skills with the guidance of elite men’s college coaches from across the country.
The U.S. Men’s National Team swept Puerto Rico Sunday night 3-0 (27-25, 25-20, 25-21) to win its third consecutive gold medal at the NORCECA Final Six in Ponce, Puerto Rico. The U.S. finished the tournament 6-1 after losing its first match against Mexico. It was also the team’s second win over Puerto Rico in the tournament, although the first meeting went five sets.
US Men Sitting Loses Heartbreaker at 2025 World Cup
The U.S. Men’s Sitting National Team’s win streak ended Wednesday night as the team fell in five sets to World No. 7 Kazakhstan, 3-2 (27-25, 25-21, 22-25, 17-25, 15-12) at the 2025 World ParaVolley World Cup in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The U.S. (4-1) will face France (1-3) Thursday night at 5 p.m. PT. France’s only win is a 3-2 victory over Italy, a team the U.S. swept earlier this week. All matches are streamed live on the Turnstone YouTube channel.
U21 Beach National Team Set for 2025 FIVB U21 World Championship
SA Volleyball has announced the 2025 Beach U21 National Team that will compete at the FIVB Beach Volleyball U21 World Championship, Oct. 15-19 in Puebla, Mexico. The event brings together many of the top young beach volleyball athletes from around the world. The competition begins with the qualification round on Oct. 15, followed by pool play Oct. 16-17. The playoffs start Oct. 18, with the quarterfinals, semifinals and medal matches concluding on Oct. 19.

Recent Coaching Hires
Former Ball State men’s volleyball head coach and Maui native Donan Cruz has joined the University of Hawai’i men’s volleyball coaching staff, head coach Charlie Wade announced.
Queens University of Charlotte has announced the hiring of Roger Peluso as the new head coach of the Royals’ men’s volleyball program this morning.
Elmira College Director of Athletics has announced the hiring of Eddie Daoreuang as the next Head Men’s Volleyball Coach.
University of Lynchburg Athletic Director Jon Waters announced Friday that Thomas Chandler, current assistant coach for Lynchburg’s men’s indoor, women’s indoor, and beach volleyball teams will take on the role of Interim Head Coach for the men’s volleyball program.
Aaron Sagraves has been named interim head men’s volleyball coach at Calvin University. Sagraves comes to Calvin after an 11-year tenure at Cornerstone University where he served in the capacity as athletics director and sports information director.
