Jeff Nygaard, the head men’s volleyball coach at the University of Southern California, was appointed to the AVCA Board of Directors Aug. 12, 2025. He replaces Donan Cruz as NCAA Division I-II Men’s Representative, and his term goes through Dec. 31, 2027.
This Board seat is charged with leading the National Collegiate (DI-II) Men’s Head Coaches Committee and serving all National Collegiate men’s member coaches. Jeff’s goals for his term include:
Continue to drive conversations about the growth and expansion of men’s and boys volleyball in all areas. This includes indoor college, boys club and high school, and men’s/boys beach volleyball.
Supporting and helping in the expansion of the NCAA National Collegiate Men’s Championship bracket to 12 teams
Monitoring how the recent adjustment to the championships dates—which moved them a week later in 2025—is impacting the men’s marquee event, and working to change the season start date to Martin Luther King Weekend so athletes have more of a break.
Continuing to bridge the gap in communication between divisions, genders, and levels to help our game.
If there are other issues you think the AVCA should be focusing on at the National Collegiate Men’s level, please contact Jeff or AVCA Men’s staff liaison, Brad Wilson.
