Teaching Littles Technique with Tools

In 2023, I accidently took on a u10 girls team. At the same time, I was coaching u18 boys and a women's JUCO team. It was the most fun I have had in a long time while simultaneously being exhausting. I have often referred to coaching littles as herding squirrels into a wheelbarrow. These court tools are a way to keep things fresh and interesting while teaching firm, yet fun, foundation techniques. We will use the following tools to teach specific skills:

  • Passing basics with bosu balls
  • Capturing the passing angle with cones
  • Teamwork with hula hoops
  • Fun feet
  • Diamond, moose antlers, and superman setting
  • Attacking from the floor

I will also cover some advanced techniques for tooling the block with noodles and bean bags for the finish.
