Webinar | Why do they Fall Apart? Coaching to Enhance Mental Toughness
An increasing number of coaches have begun to openly discuss the challenges of coaching "this" generation of athlete. Named Generation “Z” or the “iGen,” athletes who are college-age or younger have the reputation of being tech-reliant with a short attention span and significant difficulties with resilience and mental toughness. This presentation will 1) discuss some of the characteristics of Generation Z and how those developmental characteristics might impact mental toughness and athletic performance, 2) review some basic sport psychology principles as they relate to the development of mental toughness, and 3) present a holistic model for coaches to help athletes develop the skills they need to increase mental toughness and enhance overall performance.
