DI Preseason Poll, ESPN unveils extensive volleyball programming lineup

Don’t Miss the First Serve of the season! Four of the nation’s top collegiate volleyball teams – Kentucky, Louisville, Nebraska, and Wisconsin – will open the 2024 women’s season at the AVCA First Serve Showcase on Aug. 27 at 7pm ET in Louisville, KY at the KFC Yum! Center, the same venue where the NCAA DI Women’s Volleyball National Championship will be held in December. Watch on ESPN2, or get tickets here!
Interested parties can get a group ticket code! Organizations whose members purchase over 20 tickets using the code will receive a donation of 15 percent of the costs from the AVCA after the event.

Supreme Court blocks partial enforcement of final Title IX rule: The U.S. Supreme Court on Friday denied the Biden administration’s request to allow enforcement of uncontested parts of the Title IX final rule in some states where injunctions are in place. Federal courts have temporarily blocked the Education Department from enforcing the rule in at least 26 states, due to its controversial LGBTQI+ protections.
The Division III Presidents Council held its summer meeting virtually on August 5. The council approved a waiver of Bylaw 31.3.5.1 (b) that requires geographic proximity (i.e., the competition site is within 500 miles of the institution) to take precedent over seeding when constructing a championship bracket. The waiver allows flexibility for sport committees to ensure that top-seeded teams do not face each other in the early rounds of championships.
