The NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel approved some changes for women’s volleyball, including allowing double contacts and the designation of two liberos per set. Other changes deal with interference above the net, administrative red cards, match protest resolution, and jewelry clarification.

The AVCA is now accepting nominations for the 2024 AVCA Boys Watch Lists: Senior athletes will be added to AVCA Boys High School All-America Watch List. Non-senior high school athletes will be featured on the AVCA High Risers List. Please nominate all of your deserving athletes to ensure they are recognized and we bring more attention to the sport!
LeMoyne-Owen College is adding a NCAA Division II men’s volleyball team that’s slated to begin playing in the 2024-2025 season, and to compete in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (SIAC). To launch the team, the college has received a grant from the First Point Volleyball Foundation. A nationwide search for a head coach is expected to commence immediately.
The LOVB Classic will be held in conjunction with Triple Crown NIT in 2025 in Kansas City, marking the first-ever professional volleyball tournament happening alongside club play. The LOVB Classic will feature all six LOVB Pro teams in a winner-take-all competition. In addition to LOVB’s pro league, LOVB has built the largest youth volleyball business in the U.S., with over 1,200 junior club teams at 49 locations across twenty-two states.
More than 200 women’s volleyball players will converge on the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center on February 23-25 for the U.S. Women’s National Team Open Program. The WNT Open Program is used for consideration for selection to both the U.S. Women’s National Team and the U.S. Women’s Collegiate National Team.
Athletes may also be in consideration for selection to the U.S. U21 Women’s National Team that will compete in the 2024 NORCECA Continental Championship.
Eligible nominees must be 30 years old or younger as of December 31, 2023 [born 1993 or later], active AVCA members, and currently coaching volleyball in the selected category.

A bill proposed in the Nebraska Legislature aims to make Nebraska Crossing the new home of USA Volleyball’s national Olympic training center. John Cook testified in a public hearing.

TAP allows fans of Division I college sports to send money for their favorite players and teams in an era where student-athletes are allowed to be compensated for the use of their NIL. DePaul volleyball head coach Marie Zidek [AVCA Board of Directors] has received a contract extension through the end of the 2027 season. Zidek recently concluded her sixth season leading the Blue Demons to an 18-15 record in 2023. Zidek has also participated with USA Volleyball, most recently serving with the National Development Teams.
