AVCA Members are invited to apply to participate in the United States Marine Corps Coaches Workshop Program. If selected, we are confident that you will receive valuable tools and information to enhance your coaching and leadership skills, which will allow you to better connect with your students and athletes, positively influencing their overall performance and character.
In collaboration with the National Federation of State High School Associations, the NCAA Eligibility Center will be hosting a one-hour webinar event about initial eligibility, recruiting, the coaching experience, and more for high school and non-scholastic coaches. Tickets now available – secure your seat in the sand for this year’s National Collegiate Beach Volleyball Championship! This year’s championship will be a single-elimination event and include an Opening Round on Wednesday, May 1. The opening round dual will be contested by seeds 16 and 17. The winner of that dual will play in the first round duals on Friday, May 3.
Eligible nominees must be 30 years old or younger as of December 31, 2023 [born 1993 or later], active AVCA members, and currently coaching volleyball in the selected category.
ESPN and Athletes Unlimited have agreed to a multiyear rights agreement that will see more than 70 AU sporting events including volleyball broadcast on ESPN channels and streamed on ESPN+. In 2024, 15 AU Volleyball matches are scheduled to air on ESPN networks, with an additional 5 to stream on ESPN+.
The deadline is this Thursday, February 29th! In order to be eligible for the JVA All-National Team, we must receive a nomination for the JVA Watch List. Players eligible for nomination are currently competing in age divisions 15U, 16U, 17U or 18U and graduating high school in 2024, 2025, 2026 and 2027. Nominate here.
Coaching Mental Performance: 6 Stages of Behavioral Change and “What to do When…” When we consider how ‘ready’ our athletes are to change, we can utilize the widely popular transtheoretical model of behavior change. The model consists of 6 stages with strategies in each stage that help 1) to reduce resistance to future change and challenges, 2) increase athlete participation, 3) reduce athlete dropout, and 4) increase athlete’s buy-in to overall team change. The AVCA is now accepting nominations for the 2024 AVCA Boys Watch Lists: Senior athletes will be added to AVCA Boys High School All-America Watch List. Non-senior high school athletes will be featured on the AVCA High Risers List. Please nominate all of your deserving athletes to ensure they are recognized and we bring more attention to the sport!

This weekend in New York City the annual Battle of the Badges volleyball challenge between the NYPD and FDNY took place. Learn more about the event, which is organized by AVCA Hall of Fame member Gerry Matacotta. Proceeds support the Police Benevolent Association and the FDNY Widows and Children’s Fund Inc.
