AVCA Partners with Volleyball World to Elevate the Sport
The AVCA is pleased to announce the expansion of its partnership with Volleyball World, the largest broadcaster of indoor and beach volleyball. The agreement includes significant new benefits for AVCA members, ranging from exclusive access to Volleyball TV (VBTV)’s on-demand content and live coverage of this week’s AVCA Fall Collegiate Beach National Championships to ticket discounts for international competitions held in the United States. The 2023 AVCA Fall Collegiate Beach National Championships return to John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Alabama this Friday to Sunday, Nov. 3–5! The event will feature a women’s pairs national championship and a men’s team national championship. Through an expansion of the AVCA’s partnership with Volleyball World, live coverage of this weekend’s marquee matches will be available to everyone. Details on how to watch will be posted on the event website and AVCA social later this week. The event is presented by the U.S. Marine Corps with a collaboration between the AVCA, Rally Volleyball, the City of Huntsville, the Huntsville Sports Commission, the Huntsville/Madison County Convention and Visitors Bureau, Beach Volleyball Consulting, Baden Sports, and Volleyball Life.
For the first time in association history, the AVCA has over 9,000 members!

The MasterCoaches College Transfer Showcase will feature eligible athletes from NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, Junior College, and international prospects.
Recruiting event designed to provide high school boys the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of the collegiate coaches.
AVCA Scholarship Programs to Bring 64 to Tampa Convention
The AVCA is pleased to announce its 2023 recipients of the Diversity Awards, Coaches 4 Coaches Program, and Demonstrator Scholarships. The scholarship winners will participate in a series of educational seminars—many of which focus on professional and personal development for coaches—and take part in additional relationship-building and networking sessions.
The AVCA Diversity Awards are a key component of the AVCA Diversity Development Team’s efforts to engage coaches as leaders, advance the sport, and move forward with initiatives that lead to substantive change. The 2023 program will bring 20 volleyball leaders to Tampa.
The Coaches 4 Coaches
scholarship program helps provide a head start to young coaches and recent college graduates who have interest in coaching volleyball. This year’s 14 Coaches 4 Coaches recipients join more than 150 program alums, many who have gone on to successful coaching careers.
The AVCA is bringing 30 student-athlete demonstrators to its 2023 Convention in Tampa, Florida, to serve as demonstrators for on-court educational sessions during the event. One of the factors in the selection of the demonstrators was their interest in pursuing a coaching career.
Nominations are now being accepted for Women’s Division III All-Region/All-America awards!Athlete and Region Coach of the Year nominations are due Monday, November 6. Head Coaches vote for All-Region Teams Monday, November 8 through Friday, November 10.
On Sunday, Virginiawelcomed 3,162 fans – a new program record – at John Paul Jones Arena for the Smithfield Commonwealth Clash, with a 3-2 victory over vs. Virginia Tech.

The Big Ten quickly sets another ratings record, this time on FOX: Sunday’s Ohio State at Michigan and Minnesota at Wisconsin matches scored 1,659,000 viewers – the most-viewed regular season women’s college volleyball telecast in history.
NCAA kicking off fall championships with new social media campaign
The NCAA is diving into a new marketing effort for the tail end of 2023, investing six figures in a social media campaign surrounding six fall sports championships – including women’s volleyball. NCAA social media platforms have seen a +2,500% increase in volleyball posts, leading to a 1,240% increase in net audience growth. More at Sports Business Journal.
AVCA is proud to announce the third annual Girls High School Best and Brightest Awards. The award honors individual high school Senior student-athletes who excel on and off the court. Senior student-athletes must have earned at least a 3.5 Unweighted/4.0 Weighted GPA during their junior year AND play in 50% of their varsity team’s sets during their senior season.

The new USMC/AVCA Battles Won Award recognizes players and coaches who are overcoming obstacles. The AVCA is presenting the stories of 12 individuals — this week we feature Jessica Day and Halle Julian— who have faced hardships and come back strong. At the AVCA Convention in Tampa this December, one player and one coach will be presented with the 2023 USMC/AVCA Battles Won Award.
AVCA Reveals New Logo

Rochester University Athletics is excited to announce that it will be starting a men’s volleyball program, with the team beginning official competition in the 2024-25 season. The Warriors will compete alongside 10 other WHAC teams. The program will be led by current women’s volleyball head coach Juliana Nash.

Dakota Power League Enters its Inaugural Season
Kairos Volleyball and MVP Volleyball Club have collaborated to create the Dakota Power League, a competitive series of events taking place in the first part of the girls indoor season. Teams will compete in a three weekend series hosted by Kairos Volleyball at the Avera Human Performance Center in Sioux Falls, or an hour south at the CNOS Fieldhouse in Sioux City, home of MVP. Hitting the Ceiling Documentary
Hitting the Ceiling follows a top club volleyball team (from A5) at the Big South volleyball tournament, while telling the story of the growth of the sport in the United States since the passing of Title IX in 1972. Attributing much of this growth to volleyball’s potential as an empowering game for girls and women, the documentary explores feminist aspects of the game from multiple perspectives. Directed by former Emory University VB athlete Sydney Leimbach, the film includes interviews with: Jenny McDowell, Kathy DeBoer, Bob Westbrook, Laurie Dagostino, and Randy Dagostino. The AVCA Boys Talent Showcase is a recruiting event designed to provide high school boys the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of the collegiate coaches that attend the AVCA Convention in Tampa, Florida. The cost $99 per athlete. Athletes that choose to register will participate in the talent showcase on Saturday, December 16, complete athletics metric testing, and receive insight into the collegiate recruiting process and tips to improve their visibility. The MasterCoaches College Transfer Showcase is a recruiting event open to uncommitted college student-athletes who have officially entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, junior college transfers who have completed their two years of eligibility, as well as NAIA and international athletes.
