The 2024 AVCA Convention, which takes place Dec. 18–22, in Louisville, Kentucky, is where you can enjoy over 100 court and classroom education sessions, network with other coaches, and explore the world’s largest volleyball-specific exhibit show. The NCAA released the complete summary analysis from the Online Abuse in NCAA Championships: NCAA Pilot Study. The NCAA partnered with Signify, which monitored public comments targeting the online profiles of student-athletes, coaches and officials participating in several NCAA championships [including DI Women’s Volleyball] in 2023-2024. Based on the jarring findings from this pilot study, leaders in college sports called on fans and social media companies to curb rampant online abuse.
Longtime American beach volleyball star April Ross is retiring and the three-time Olympic medalist will be honored Nov. 9 at the Association of Volleyball Professionals league championship in Los Angeles.
Season Four continues through November 4, with 44 of the world’s best volleyball players on the court in Mesa, Arizona. Watch live on ESPN, VBTV, and Bally Sports networks. Following the completion of the season, all matches will be added to the Athletes Unlimited YouTube channel.

AVCA Girls & Women’s Volleyball Officials Appreciation Week Recap
Final tally: 754 participants in 47 states took part in a record-setting 2024 AVCA Girls and Women’s Volleyball #OFFICIATIONWEEK! This year’s participation tops the previous record of 600 participants in 44 states set in 2023. Thank you to all who participated – elementary, middle & high school; beach; club; boys; NCAA DI-II-III; NAIA; and Two-Year Colleges.
Voting for AVCA President-Elect, National Collegiate (NCAA D-I/II) Men, NCAA D-III Men, High School, and Club Volleyball Representatives positions on the AVCA Board of Directors will be conducted October 22-25. Interested candidates must contact kennedy.wells@avca.org

The AVCA Boys Talent Showcase is a recruiting event designed to provide high school boys the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of the collegiate coaches attending the AVCA Convention. The 2024 AVCA Boys Showcase will take place at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday, December 21, and the optional add-on AVCA Boys Showcase Clinic is the evening of Friday, December 20.

John Hawks, who was an assistant coach for UCLA from 2015-22 and head coach at Loyola University Chicago from 2022-24, has been named the third head coach in UCLA men’s volleyball history.
Quincy University announced Omar Sanchez as the new head coach of the men’s volleyball team.
JVA Releases New Officiating Videos to Train Your Teams this Season
The JVA and The TikTok Ref Monica Wang have joined together to create fun, educational training videos for volleyball players to learn how to perform the work duties for a junior volleyball match. Clubs can use the training videos and handouts to train your teams before their first tournament.
