AVCA Reveals New Logo as Part of Brand Update
The American Volleyball Coaches Association unveiled its new logo and marks, providing a fresh look for the 42-year-old organization. The new logo is a continuation of the association’s identity update that kicked off in July with the debut of the revitalized AVCA website. The new logo represents the AVCA community as a team on one side of the net working together to advance coaches and volleyball. You can find downloadable versions of the logo in the AVCA Brand Kit.

With 612,000 viewers on BTN, Nebraska vs. Wisconsin is the most-watched regular season volleyball match across any network in history! The BTN is averaging 142,000 viewers per match this season, up +13% from 2022.
The International Volleyball Hall of Fame inducted the 37th class of honorees on Saturday, including USA beach great Phil Dalhausser. Retired AVCA Executive Director Kathy DeBoer was honored with the Mintonette Medallion of Merit – watch her speech here.
The new USMC/AVCA Battles Won Award recognizes players and coaches who are overcoming obstacles. The AVCA is presenting the stories of 12 individuals — this week we feature Mahalia White & Greg Kimmel — who have faced hardships and come back strong.
Friends gathered on Saturday to celebrate the life of former USA player and co-founder of Starlings Volleyball USA, Byron Shewman, who died in August. Starlings gives thousands of underserved girls the opportunity to play volleyball. The non-profit currently has more than 3,300 kids participating in 27 states throughout the country. The AVCA Boys Talent Showcase is a recruiting event designed to provide high school boys the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of the collegiate coaches that attend the AVCA Convention in Tampa, Florida. The cost $99 per athlete. Athletes that choose to register will participate in the talent showcase [on Saturday, December 16], complete athletics metric testing, and receive insight into the collegiate recruiting process and tips to improve their visibility. The MasterCoaches College Transfer Showcase is a recruiting event open to uncommitted college student-athletes who have officially entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, junior college transfers who have completed their two years of eligibility, as well as NAIA and international athletes. Any coach registered for the AVCA Convention can attend for no extra charge – register here.Athletes interested in participating can register here. The Top 30 honorees for the 2023 NCAA Woman of the Year Award includes two volleyball athletes: Charlotte Richards, Missouri-St. Louis, and Logan Eggleston, Texas.
The NCAA Division I Council has published legislative proposals for voting at the 2024 NCAA Convention. Included is an overhaul of the NCAA’s NIL policy: registry of service providers, disclosure of NIL agreements and terms of the deal, publication of an NIL database, NIL education, and more. U.S. Senators Richard Blumnethal (D-CT) and Pete Ricketts (R-NE) have introduced the “Name, Image, and Likeness for International Collegiate Athletes Act” – a bill that would allow international student-athletes to participate in NIL opportunities by amending the Immigration and Nationality Act.

Meridian Community College (MCC) announced that the school is adding a new volleyball program, and appointed Alex Schimelpfening as the inaugural head coach. The Eagles will begin competing in the fall of 2024 in the NJCAA.
Jordan Leandro has been hired as the inaugural Men’s Volleyball Head Coach at Randolph College. The WildCats will compete in 2024-25.
Mark Rohrback announced as the new men’s volleyball head coach at Roanoke College.
