AVCA Girls & Women’s Volleyball Officials Appreciation Week September 29 – October 5, 2024, is the 4th Annual American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Girls and Women’s Volleyball Officials Appreciation Week. This nine-day period is set aside to make sure our officials know they are part of the sport. As coaches, you are the leaders, student-athletes, parents, and fans will follow your example of ensuring that we treat our officials in a manner befitting their role in helping girls and women’s volleyball become one of the United States most popular sports.
The AVCA is proud to name the 2024 Junior Beach All-Americans. This year’s honorees include 21 athletes, eight on both the first and second teams, and five honorable mention selections.

SMU knocked off No. 2 Nebraska in front of a record crowd of 6,773 at Moody Coliseum, and Dayton set a new mark with 4,196 fans on Saturday.

Volleyball 4 All is a philanthropic fund established by the AVCA to support scholarships, social programs, and grassroot initiatives. The AVCA annually supports coaches who are entering the profession, providing them with the opportunity to attend the AVCA Convention and linking them with mentorship and other professional development opportunities. Scholarships are funded 100% by AVCA coaches and the volleyball community!
Juniata Volleyball Breaks Division III Record for Consecutive Wins
The Juniata women’s volleyball team defeated Swarthmore 3-0 on Saturday, breaking the record for consecutive wins in Division III women’s volleyball with their 67th straight victory.
It is the third longest streak across all of women’s collegiate volleyball as Concordia St Paul (Division II) is second all-time at 75 (2008-2010), and Penn State is number one at 109 (2007-2010).
A new Taraflex volleyball surface at Coussoulis Arena on the campus of California State University San Bernardino has officially been named Kim Cherniss Court after the program’s legendary head coach.
Michigan State University approved early plans for a new 4,000- to 5,500-seat arena which will be the home for MSU’s volleyball, gymnastics and wrestling teams.
Continuing to prepare for its second season of professional volleyball in the United States, Pro Volleyball Federation has announced it will play a 28-match slate for the 2025 campaign. The Indy Ignite will play for the first time this season to give the league eight teams overall.
Voting for AVCA President-Elect, National Collegiate (NCAA D-I/II) Men Representative, NCAA D-III Men Representative, High School/Interscholastic Representative, and Club Volleyball Representative positions on the AVCA Board of Directors will be conducted October 22-25. Gallaudet University has announced Ben Campmanas the interim head coach of the men’s volleyball program.
Daemen University has appointed Darek Przybyl to the position of Head Men’s Volleyball Coach.
Ben Wallis, who has led the UTEP volleyball program over the last five seasons, has signed a two-year contract extension that will keep him as head coach of the Miners through at least August of 2029.
Boise State beach volleyball head coach Allison Voigt received a three-year contract extension through the 2027 season. Assistant coach Alex Venardos also inked a two-year contract, keeping him on staff through 2026.
