Manhattan College Adds DI Men’s Volleyball Team
Manhattan College announced it is adding men’s volleyball as a varsity sport starting with the 2025-26 academic year. The Riverdale, New York university will receive a $100,000 grant from the First Point Volleyball Foundation and become the sixth NCAA Division I program to add men’s volleyball since 2022. Manhattan will compete as an associate member of the NEC.
USA’s TJ DeFalco sat down with VolleyballMag to discuss how things have gone so far this summer and looked ahead to the Paris Olympics that begin in less than three weeks.
In its final tournament competition before the Summer Olympics in Paris, the U.S. Men’s National Team fell to Japan, 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-19) before a boisterous crowd in Manila, Philippines. The U.S. finished with a 5-7 record.
The NCAA announced the men’s volleyball NCAA Tournament finals will now annually be played on a Monday starting next season. The scheduling change will move the championship match to the Monday following the second Friday of May.
The Crusaders Volleyball Club was the brainchild of Chuchu Ugovi, a senior at Our Redeemer’s Christian School, who has spent his time figuring out how to build a functioning team from the ground up. It is an independent club, separate from any particular school, and is managed by its members.
The JVA is announced the 75 student athletes selected to the 2024 JVA Boys All-National Team powered by Fivestar, which recognizes the top male indoor volleyball players competing for a JVA member club in the 15U-18U divisions this club season.
The AVCA announced its 17th annual High School All-America Teams for boys volleyball. There are 10 players on the first team, 10 on the second team, and six honorable mention selections. This year’s group of 26 student-athletes are from 23 high schools in 11 different states.
Michael Boehle is the 2024 AVCA Boys High School Coach of the Year
The veteran coach, who just completed his 26th season as Loyola head boys volleyball coach, picks up his second AVCA Coach of the Year honor in a row. Boehle led his team to a 32-1-1 record this year, and they finished as the top-ranked team in the AVCA/USA TODAY Sports Boys Volleyball Super 25 for the second-straight season.

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has selected Dr. Anitra Brockman to be the head coach of the University’s new men’s volleyball program.
Purdue Fort Wayne Director of Athletics Kelley Hartley Hutton has announced that former Daemen head coach Donny Gleason has been selected as the third head coach of the Mastodon men’s volleyball program.
Northern Kentucky University and Vice President and Athletics Director Christina Roybal has announced the hiring of Jim Palilonis as the first men’s volleyball head coach in program history.
Penn State Men’s Volleyball head coach Mark Pavlik announced on Thursday the addition of Ryan “Rock” Perrotte as an assistant coach. Perrotte joins the Nittany Lions after spending the past 22 seasons at Purdue Fort Wayne, including the past nine as the team’s head coach.
McKendree University men’s volleyball head coach and director of volleyball Nickie Sanlin has been elevated to the head coaching position of the USA Men’s Collegiate National Volleyball Team
