AVCA Announces 2023 AVCA Junior Beach All-America Teams
The AVCA is proud to announce its 10th group of Junior Beach All-Americans. This year, 22 athletes make the list, eight on both the first and second teams, as well as six honorable mention selections.

Steve Walker Inks Contract Extension: Arizona beach volleyball head coach Steve Walker has signed a contract extension that will keep him in Tucson through the 2026 season. Walker guided the Wildcats to a 21-12 overall record in 2023 and his career record stands at 180-82 in his 10 seasons as the head coach. Read More
Beach Volleyball Adds Alex Luna to Coaching Staff: Luna comes to Columbia after starting the beach volleyball program at Stephen F. Austin State University and serving as head coach for five seasons. Read More
Zakarian Joins Hawai’i Beach Volleyball Staff: Zakarian boasts more than 15 years of coaching experience on the collegiate and national level. Most recently he was the head coach at West Valley College and previously was an assistant with the UC Irvine men’s program. Read More

Registration to the 2023 AVCA Convention in Tampa is now open. The convention will be held December 13-17 culminating with the NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship on Sunday 12/17. The championship was picked up by ABC and we have worked to create a compressed convention schedule to encourage coaches to stay for the championship match. This is a historic step for our sport and we want to pack the arena.

The AVCA is excited for the addition of 6 Qualifying events to the upcoming AVCA Fall Collegiate Beach Championships. There are 2 bids that can be earned at each of the qualifiers.
The AVCA is offering a demonstrator scholarship to female beach athletes who are willing to participate in on-court sessions at the 2023 AVCA Convention in Tampa, FL December 13-17. During on-court sessions demonstrators will be coached by our presenters. Demonstrators will participate in a mixture of drills and 2 on 2 play as presenters share coaching/training strategies with convention attendees. Learn More & Apply
The Coaches 4 Coaches Scholarship was conceived as a way to engage young coaches and recent college graduates who are interested in pursuing a volleyball coaching position and give them a head start on their coaching career. To be eligible for this scholarships coaches must be AVCA members looking to attend the Convention for the first time. Learn More & Apply
The AVCA Diversity Development Team, under the leadership of Coach Nickie Sanlin, continues to champion the Association’s diversity and coach development initiatives. The program through an online application process looks to identify volleyball coach recipients who will be awarded a complimentary pre-convention and full convention registration package and a cash award to supplement travel and lodging expenses to attend the AVCA Convention. The AVCA, in partnership with Beach Volleyball Consulting, is driving the strategic growth of men’s collegiate beach volleyball. This quarterly webinar series is designed to update the extended community on the latest strategic developments, share coaches experiences on how they are growing their programs, and to provide a platform for coaches to network. It is designed for current men’s collegiate beach coaches and for those looking to start a collegiate offering or connect their junior boys activities to the collegiate game. Each Zoom session will be hosted by Megan Burgdorf, Founder of Beach Volleyball Consulting, and will begin with a 15 minute update. Two current men’s collegiate beach coaches will present a short case study on their program. The remaining time will be open to the extended community to ask questions and discuss current needs for support.
