Long Beach Captures NCAA National Collegiate Championship
On Monday, No. 1 Long Beach State captured its fourth NCAA National Title in program history. The Beach swept No. 3 UCLA, [25-17, 25-23, 25-21] as Moni Nikolov was named NCAA All-Tournament MVP. Congratulations to The Beach and Head Coach Alan Knipe!
Southern Virginia Wins 1st Ever DIII National Championship
Southern Virginia won the 2025 NCAA DIII Men’s Volleyball Championship on Monday, April 28. The Knights defeated Springfield 3-0 in the championship match. It was the Knights first ever NCAA DIII Championship in university history. Christian Sheaffer was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. Congratulations to the Southern Virginia Knights and head coach Tom Peterson!
The Master’s Finishes Perfect Season with NAIA Championship
The No. 1 The Master’s (Calif.) Mustangs won their first national title over the No. 2 Saint Xavier (Ill.) Cougars in the 2025 NAIA Men’s Volleyball National Championship. TMU secured its first Red Banner in four sets. Both teams went undefeated through the season and were destined to meet in the final. Branden Van Groningen was named Tournament MVP. Congratulations to the Mustangs and head coach Jared Goldberg!
The Jessup Warriors are champions of the NCCAA, capping off a historic first season of men’s volleyball at Jessup. With back-to-back sweeps, the Warriors went 12-1 in their 13 sets in the NCCAA Tournament to cement themselves as the best in the nation.
The AVCA announced its 35th All-America teams for National Collegiate men’s volleyball. The 2025 lists include 24 players—12 each on the first and second teams—from 11 schools. UCLA leads the way with three players on the first team, and four total All-Americans. Long Beach State University, Loyola University Chicago, the University of Hawai‘i, and Pepperdine University all have three players on the first or second teams.
The AVCA announced the 22nd edition of its All-America teams for NCAA Division III men’s volleyball. The 2025 lists include 28 players—14 each on the first and second teams—from 15 schools. New York University leads the way with six players on the first or second teams, and Springfield has four.
The AVCA named its 2025 All-America Teams for NAIA men’s volleyball. Each of the two All-America Teams includes 12 student-athletes, who represent 11 programs, and 11 additional players received honorable mention honors. Leading the way—in terms of first- and second-team All-Americans—are St. Xavier University with five, The Master’s University with four, and Missouri Baptist University and St. Thomas University with three.
Despite the awful news of Grand Canyon’s program being cut, it is important to note that collegiate volleyball continues to grow. In the past month, five new programs were announced:

The NAIA announced the 2025 Men’s Volleyball All-America Teams, along with Player and Coach of the Year, last week. Saint Xavier (Ill.) had the largest number of All-Americans, with five total honorees.
The MasterCoaches conducted a round table discussion with current coaches Dan Friend-Lewis University, Sam Shweisky-Princeton University and Michael Rumbaugh-St. Francis University, PA.
Punahou cruised its way to a four-set victory over defending champion Kamehameha at the New City Nissan /HHSAA Boys Volleyball State Championships. The Buffanblu completed an undefeated season with a 25-23, 20-25, 25-20, 25-7 victory over their rival.
This year’s boost comes in the first season the sport is officially sanctioned by the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL). For the players and coaches, this year feels new in multiple ways, some more tangible than others.
Eaglecrest, Regis Groff Claim Colorado State Titles
Both winners were first-time champions, as Regis Groff won the school its first-ever state championship in any sport, claiming the 4A title. Minutes later, Eaglecrest captured the 5A title, marking the first boys volleyball state championship for the school.
Beach Collegiate Challenge Celebrates Five Years of Competition
The Beach Collegiate Challenge returns for its fifth year, continuing to grow men’s beach volleyball. The event takes place Sept. 19-21 on the campus of Stevenson University in Owings Mills, MD.
Men’s College volleyball coaches from NCAA, NAIA, and Two-Year College divisions answer questions about recruiting for high school athletes, parents, club and high school coaches. Topics include: academic criteria, scholarship opportunities by division, communication between coaches and prospects, sharing video, and much more.

Coaching Hires
Gwynedd Mercy University Director of Athletics Keith Mondillo announced Amber Wood as the men and women’s volleyball coach.
Eureka College Athletic Director Sara Shaw has announced the addition of men’s volleyball as the department’s 17th intercollegiate sport offering and named Noah Ray as the first head coach in the history of the program.
