As an example, you can semi-block where your setters set the ball to eliminate randomness and make blocking easier for beginners. For a full drill description, including video examples, check out our GMS+ drill library.

Volleyball Men’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament – Road to Paris 2024
The Men’s Road to Paris Volleyball Qualifiers are Sept. 30 September to Oct. 8 with Olympic quotas at stake. Only twelve teams will compete for gold at Paris 2024, including Tokyo 2020 Olympic champions France, who are are automatic qualifiers as hosts. The top teams of each of the three groups will gain qualification berths for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. More here.
U.S. Men’s Head Coach John Speraw: “The NORCECA Championship was a great opportunity for us to learn about what we needed to do going into Tokyo. Our guys are well prepared. It will have a familiar format, like the World Cup, where we have done well. We’re a little bit older, so it’s going to take a team effort. But I think the team is ready.”
The demise of the Pac-12 over the summer doesn’t just portend an earthquake in a rapidly evolving college sports landscape. To Olympic leaders, it represents anything from a challenge to an outright threat to the United States’ success in the Games. Roughly 75% of the U.S. team in Tokyo in 2021 competed collegiately. So did nearly 85% of medalists in Rio five years prior. Because the developmental pipeline runs through them, it leaves the U.S. team’s success, to some degree, in the hands of athletic directors and university presidents juggling other interests. Add to realignment a continued shift in collegiate sports that could include revenue sharing for athletes and the collegiate model is headed for more change. That means the Olympic movement is, too.
