Competitive Mindset for the Beginner Player
One theory on coaching suggests that we do not expect what we do not teach. Therefore, we cannot assume each of our young athletes possesses the competitive mindset to be successful on the court. As coaches, we need tools to create mentally strong athletes, and this presentation will take a look at applying strategies from sport psychology directly to players ``young"" to volleyball despite their actual age.
Primary Objectives
1) creating a framework for coaching to incorporate a competitive environment during practice and training sessions that translates to on-court success and actualization
2) Gain understanding of the ""not one mold for all"" approach to the beginner athlete
3) How SEL (social emotional learning) factors into competitive sports performance
