IVCA Official of the Year

The Illinois Volleyball Coaches Association (IVCA) is proud to recognize the annual IVCA Official of the Year award during the spring and fall.  In the fall, the Official of the Year award honors a girls volleyball official, and a boys volleyball official is honored in the spring.  Officials are nominated by IVCA member coaches.  Read below to learn more about past and present IVCA Official of the Year award recipients. 2025 IVCA Girls Volleyball Official of the Year: Monica Lindsey, IHSA Volleyball Official

Monica Lindsey has officiated volleyball for 22 years, working with USAV, PAVO, and as a collegiate line judge. An IHSA certified clinician since 2019 and West Suburban Conference assignor since 2021, she has officiated multiple Boys and Girls State tournaments. Monica played, coached, and was a volleyball parent, giving her a unique perspective that makes her a better official. Passionate about the sport, she mentors new officials, teaches younger players, and collaborates with peers to continually improve.

2026 IVCA Boys Volleyball Official of the Year: Steven McClenning, IHSA Volleyball Official

Steven McClenning is an experienced IHSA official with more than 44 years of officiating experience across multiple sports. He serves as a Boys and Girls Varsity Volleyball referee, working primarily in the SPC and SWSC conferences and officiating numerous in-season tournaments throughout the year.
