2018 Upcoming Webinars
ACL INJURY RISK REDUCTION: HELP KEEP YOUR PLAYER IN THE GAME (July 24th @ 3:00 PM EST)
Meghan Hubbell, MS, AT, PTA - Ohio State Wexner Medical Center
With the increase in anterior collateral ligament (ACL) and other knee injuries within the volleyball world, coaches need to be made more aware of their ability to assist in decreasing the amount these injuries occur. The deceleration phase, lateral pivoting, or landing activities, which will put a higher level of external knee joint loads, are the main factors in non-contact ACL injury. (Hewitt, et al 2005). It has been found lower extremity strength alone will not decrease the prevalence of knee injuries. Focusing on the proper neuromuscular control of the knee during the take off and landing phase of a dynamic activity will assist in decreasing the incidents of injury.
This webinar will focus on Neuromuscular retraining, hip and core strengthening, and providing coaches with the proper screening tools. The goal of this webinar is to assist in helping decrease the prevalence of ACL injuries within your program.
FROM PAPER TO PRACTICE: DEVELOPING A "TEAM VALUE SYSTEM" THAT FOSTERS A CHAMPIONSHIP CULTURE (July 31st @ 3:00 PM EST)
Beth Wilmeth, University of Northwestern Head Coach and Assistant AD
Character matters. Just ask Coach K who asserts, “Character drives everything. Character is the foundation upon which you win.” Yet for many coaches, character development is a fuzzy, theoretical concept that is difficult to naturally weave into the daily practice and DNA of a program. Most of us find ourselves asking, “Where do I even start?” and “How will this help me win matches?”
In this webinar, Wilmeth will address the “nuts and bolts” of how to develop a team value system, but even more importantly how to integrate that system into the fabric of everyday team culture. Attendees will be able to identify team values that foster success and will leave with both a framework to use in their own programs and practical ideas of how to incorporate those values into a daily reality.

ATHLETE ACCOUNTABILITY: HOW TO HELP YOUR ATHLETES MASTER THIS CRITICAL SKILL FOR HIGH PERFORMANCE RESULTS (RECORDING Only)
BO HANSON, ATHLETE ASSESSMENTS PERFORMANCE CONSULTANT
Being accountable is not making excuses, not blaming others or whining and complaining. Accountability is taking ownership of your performance and results. It is making sure you ‘know your job and do your job’ 100% of the time within your Volleyball Team. Accountability also extends to holding others accountable. One of the biggest issues we see in teams is when one athlete is not doing something right, something that could hurt the team, and another athlete notices but doesn’t do anything about it. Your athletes being able to have an accountability conversation with a team mate is critical if you want to reach the highest level of performance. Coaches want accountability within their team but often can struggle to know how to develop and foster it. This webinar is the ‘how to’ on building accountability within your volleyball program.

THROTTLE GAMES … AND GAMES TO DIE FOR (RECORDING ONLY)
WAYNE PERRY, LEBANON VALLEY COLLEGE HEAD COACH
One of the biggest challenges coaches have with practicing 6-on-6 volleyball is allowing your starters to compete against the “second string”. All too often these games become blow outs for the starters due to the vast differences in ability. Throttle games are a great way for a coach to maintain team balance for 6-on-6 scrimmages, regardless of either team’s strength, without changing the rules or scoring system for rally volleyball. These games will become intense and the players will learn that they have to rely on good defense and transition to win. Most importantly, they will learn that no lead is safe.
