Kansas City, Mo. (December 14, 2017) - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) is proud to announce that University of Florida Head Women's Volleyball Coach Mary Wise has been selected as the 2017 USMC/AVCA Division I Coach of the Year, while University of Kentucky Assistant Coach Lindsey Gray-Walton has been selected as the 2017 AVCA Division I Assistant Coach of the Year. The announcements were made at the Jostens Coaches Honors Luncheon held in conjunction with the AVCA Convention.

Mary Wise Fast Facts

• Twenty-seventh season leading the Florida Gators
• Third AVCA Coach of the Year award (1996, 1992)
• First national Division I female coach of the year since 2002 (Bobbi Petersen, Northern Iowa)
• An overall 29-1 record, going 17-1 in the SEC sharing the conference title with Kentucky
• Earned the No. 2 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament
• Their first top-4 seed since 2010
• In the top-5 of the AVCA Coaches Poll in every week after the preseason poll (three weeks at No. 1)
• Second-best winning percentage in Division I (.967)
• Second nationally in opponents hitting percentage (.136)
• Currently riding a 15-match winning streak
• Mentored a region-high five players on the AVCA Southwest All-Region Team
• Placed four players in this year’s AVCA All-American class
