Kiraly to lead US Men; NCAA Settlement’s impact on Olympic sport athletes

USA Volleyball is pleased to announce that Karch Kiraly will transition to head coach of the U.S. Men’s National Team for the 2028 Olympics. Kiraly transfers to the post with the current coach, John Speraw, having been named USA Volleyball’s president and CEO.

Meanwhile, several dozen current college athletes are being notified that they are no longer part of their teams… The actions are a result of a significant and overshadowed roster change affiliated with the NCAA’s historic settlement of an antitrust lawsuit (House). While the NCAA and power conferences agreed to expand upon scholarships as part of the settlement, they also imposed roster limits for sports, many of which did not previously exist. Such a change will result in thousands of lost roster spots for mostly walk-on athletes and those on partial scholarship…
University of the Ozarks will add women’s volleyball to its NCAA Division III athletic department beginning the fall 2025 semester. Ozarks is the only school in the 12-team Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) that does not currently sponsor women’s volleyball.
William Woods University will add two sports for the 2025-26 academic year – men’s volleyball and women’s beach volleyball – which will begin play in the Spring 2026 semester. The current volleyball coaching staff, led by second-year head coach Kandace Cook, will guide both new programs.
Athletes Unlimited Pro Volleyball Season Four continues through November 4, with 44 of the world’s best volleyball players on the court in Mesa, Arizona. Watch live on ESPN, VBTV, and Bally Sports networks. Following the completion of the season, all matches will be added to the Athletes Unlimited YouTube channel.
2024 AVCA Girls Best and Brightest Awards Announced
The AVCA is proud to announce the fourth edition of its Best and Brightest Awards for girls high school senior student-athletes. The GPA-based award, which honors those who excel on and off the court, includes 1,390 senior players—862 on the first team, 256 on the second team, and 272 on the third team.

The AVCA Boys Talent Showcase is a recruiting event designed to provide high school boys the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of the collegiate coaches attending the AVCA Convention. The 2024 AVCA Boys Showcase will take place at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday, December 21, and the optional add-on AVCA Boys Showcase Clinic is the evening of Friday, December 20.
