AVCA President Kirsten Bernthal Booth appointed Charita Stubbs to the role of AVCA Diversity Development Representative on November 6, 2024. Stubbs began serving as the Diversity Development Representative to the AVCA board effective January 1, 2025.
Effective July 16, 2025, Charita was named chair of the newly formed AVCA Ad Hoc T.E.A.M. Committee. The Ad Hoc committee was charged with review and evaluation of certain aspects of AVCA’s coach development initiatives.
Effective May 1, 2026, Stubbs transitions to chair of the AVCA T.E.A.M. Committee per the AVCA board’s adoption of the recommendation(s) coming from the Ad Hoc T.E.A.M. Committee.
Continuing as a board member, her role will remain focused on open, meaningful dialogue and action aimed at eliminating barriers to advancement in the volleyball coaching profession and to participation in the sport of volleyball. This role will facilitate the execution of the AVCA T.E.A.M. Award program and forging new pathways for the AVCA through ancillary programming, activities, events, and strategies.
The focus remains:
Establishing a positive trajectory for the AVCA T.E.A.M. Awards program.
Maintaining a sustainable model for funding for the coach development initiatives of the AVCA.
Being proactive and intentional in addressing the climate and progression of the volleyball coaching community, and the larger volleyball community. With awareness, education, and dialogue serving as the catalysts.
