Sarah Martin serves as the Senior Director of Events for the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). Sarah’s responsibilities include the planning, preparation and execution of major events held by the AVCA, including the AVCA First Serve, AVCA Convention, and AVCA Collegiate Beach National Championship, as well as strategic planning for new events across the span of the volleyball world.
With 15 years of coaching experience at the high school, club and the Division I level, Sarah brings the knowledge and skills to tie her experiences in the volleyball community to planning events to promote volleyball across all platforms and communities.
Prior to her role at the AVCA, Sarah was the Head Beach Volleyball Coach and Associate Head Volleyball Coach at Morehead State University. In this role, Sarah was part of 5 championships and 2 NCAA appearances. In addition to coaching responsibilities, she managed travel logistics, recruiting, budgeting, social media and internship management, community service, and fundraising. Sarah also served on the AVCA Assistant Coaches Committee, the AVCA Beach Challenge Committee and received the AVCA High School Thirty Under Thirty Award in 2016.
In addition to her experience in the coaching community, Sarah also brings 7 years of non-profit work at Lexington Sister Cities, a non-profit in international relations. Through that work, she was part of executing the planning of international group visits to Lexington, group travel to other countries, itinerary and travel logistic planning, establishing economic and cultural partnerships, membership management and engagement, and fundraising events and campaigns.
Sarah played Division III volleyball at Transylvania University, where she met her husband, Matthew. They enjoy traveling, golf, running races, reading and hanging out with their dog and cats.
