The AVCA is delighted to host the third annual Pairs National Championship for women’s collegiate beach volleyball pairs November 15-17, 2024 in Huntsville, Alabama. In addition to this event the AVCA has established sanctioned zonal events that award entry bids to the Pairs National Championship. A maximum of two events per zone (East, Central, West) will be confirmed. There are now two categories of events that award bids to the Pairs National Championship, Bid Tournaments and Qualification Tournaments.

2024 AVCA Collegiate Beach Women’s Pairs Bid Tournament
- 1 year sanction
- One per zone (East, Central, West) to support a more local experience for some programs
- 16 pair bid bracket over 2 consecutive days
- 2 bids awarded per event to the Pairs National Championships
Application and Selection
- Interested hosts should apply by completing the online form
- Application deadline is Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Noon, Eastern Time
- Applications will be reviewed and applicants will be contacted on Monday, April 29, 2024
- There will be one sanctioned Bid Tournament selected per zone (East, Central, West)
- Hosts will be confirmed by Tuesday, April 30, 2024
Requirements
- The sanctioned host must be a member of AVCA.
- A minimum of four courts is required for Bid Tournaments.
- Bid Tournament sanctioned events should run between September 27-October 13, 2024 (no AVCA events will be held November 8-10, 2024). Sanctioned events can not overlap per each zone.
- Bid Tournaments should run over two days and must have one Bid Bracket consisting of 16 pairs running in the AVCA approved standard format that reflects the Pairs National Championships. All games are played as matches, best of three sets (21, 21, 15) and NCAA DI rules apply.
- Seeding for pool play is based on TruVolley rankings, where two or more pairs are in the same pool from the same university the lowest ranking pair(s) will be dropped one place to ensure that pool play only has one pair from each school.
- Pairs in the Bid Bracket must play together for the duration of the tournament.
- There are to be a minimum of two matches and no more than three matches per day per pair.
- The Bid Bracket must consist of pairs from a minimum of four university programs.
- Entry to the Bid Bracket will first accommodate at least one pair from each interested university before awarding additional entries.
- Brackets should play to place to allow for trickle down bids to be decided.
- Hosts must have at least one official that oversees the event each day. It is highly recommended to have an official per court.
- All events are to be hosted on the AVCA’s Volleyball Life and include approved event regulations and format. The host is responsible to cover the costs involved in registration on the platform.
- All results must be completed in Volleyball Life by Monday, November 4, 2024, after this date they will not be used for seeding the Pairs National Championships (TruVolley rankings).
- All Bid Brackets in the sanctioned Bid Tournament are to be played with the AVCA approved ball.
- Hosts may run an Open Bracket in addition onsite if spacing permits, the format for the Open Bracket may vary to accommodate for facility differences, however, games should be match play for ranking purposes. It is up to the host if they would like to allow pairs to be altered.
- The host shall have comprehensive general public liability insurance coverage for the venue listing AVCA as additional insured, with combined single limits of at least $1 million per occurrence for bodily injury and property damage and must provide AVCA with the appropriate insurance certificates if requested. Self-insurance programs do not meet these requirements.
Entry Bids
- Two bids to the Pairs National Championship are awarded to each sanctioned Bid Tournament. They will be distributed to the top finishing pairs that are eligible to earn a bid to the 2024 AVCA Collegiate Beach Pairs National Championship.
- If a bid is not able to be accepted by the first or second place team, or the university has already met the maximum of two bids, the qualifying bids will trickle down to the next eligible pair(s).
Sanctioned Events
- Host will sign the AVCA Host Agreement and pay a sanctioning fee of $200 to the AVCA upon acceptance by Friday, April 19, 2024.
- Hosts will pay a contribution fee following the event to support the Pairs National Championships. The fee is $15 per athlete that has competed in the Bid Tournament (both the Bid and Open Brackets). This is due to the AVCA within one week of the conclusion of the sanctioned event. This cost may be offset in registration fees.
- Host will be included in AVCA press releases and marketing as well as website information.
- Title the event ‘2024 AVCA Collegiate Beach (Insert Zone) Bid Tournament hosted by (insert promoter)’
- Execute provided AVCA marketing plan including posting the bid winners on social media and collaborating/tagging @avcavolleyball #avcachamps.
- Display AVCA marketing material if provided.
- The host may use the AVCA event title in marketing the event and gaining sponsorship. Sponsors for nets, posts and poll pads and balls must be pre-approved as the AVCA has corporate partnerships with Sports Imports and Baden. AVCA reserves the right to sell sponsorship packages and display sponsor signage/branding at the event. If the host has exclusivities with certain brands the host shall disclose those to AVCA.
- AVCA will retain the event media rights and the host agrees to work with AVCA to accommodate live streaming from the venue.
