AVCA First Serve Showcase: Group Ticket Fundraising
Organizations are now eligible to request group codes for ticket orders for the AVCA First Serve Showcase on Aug. 27. The event at Louisville’s KFC Yum! Center features four of the nation’s top women’s volleyball teams, with Kentucky playing Nebraska at 7 p.m. (ET) followed by Louisville vs. Wisconsin. Interested parties can get a group code, which they can share with members of their team, club, or organization to be used when purchasing tickets for AVCA First Serve. Organizations whose members buy over 20 tickets using the code will receive a donation of 15 percent of the cost from the AVCA after the event.
Team USA by the numbers: NCAA athletes bolster Olympic squad
This summer in Paris, 75% of U.S. Olympians will have competed collegiately as part of their journey to Team USA (including NCAA, junior college, NAIA and club). 14 teams are made up exclusively of NCAA athletes, including: Beach volleyball (men’s and women’s), Men’s volleyball and Women’s volleyball.
USA Volleyball Announces 2024 U.S. Paralympic Women’s Sitting Volleyball Team Roster Head coach Bill Hamiter made his Paralympic debut with team in 2008. Assistant coach Michelle Goodall will be working her third Paralympic Games and assistant coach Leo Filho will be making his debut in Paris. The U.S. Women’s Sitting Team has medaled at every Paralympics since 2004. Prior to winning gold in Tokyo (2020), the team won its first gold in Rio de Janeiro (2016), and also won silver medals in London (2012) and Beijing (2008) and bronze in Athens (2004).
The U.S. Women’s National Team celebrated a second straight sweep of the Netherlands 3-0 at the USA Volleyball Cup. A sendoff celebration for the U.S. Women, U.S. Men and U.S. Beach Olympic delegations was held after Sunday’s match. The defending Olympic gold medalists will leave for the Summer Games in Paris on July 20 and play their first match on July 29 against China.

UC Merced departs the NAIA and will begin NCAA Division II competition in the 2025-26 academic year and will be fully eligible for postseason in 2026-27. Men’s volleyball is applying for membership in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, Women will compete in the CCAA.
The U.S. Men’s National Team competing at the NORCECA Pan American Cup lost a five-set battle to Canada on Tuesday. The U.S. Men (2-1) will finish pool play at 4 p.m. on Wednesday against Chile (1-1).
Higher Ed Dive: Title IX athletics rule delayed yet again The U.S. Department of Education seems to be putting its long-awaited Title IX athletics rule on the back burner.The controversial rule is expected to provide a framework for colleges and schools to include or exclude transgender students from athletic teams aligning with their gender identities.

2024 USMC/AVCA Battles Won Award
The AVCA and US Marine Corps are looking to recognize a volleyball coach and athlete who overcame a significant obstacle during the past year. The nature of this obstacle can be physical, mental, or a combination of both. The selected winners will be provided round trip travel to the AVCA Convention this December
in Louisville, Kentucky to be recognized and celebrated at the event. Nominations will be kept private and not shared until winners are selected and permission has been granted to share.
