Countdown to Paris – Just 30 days until opening ceremonies!
The qualification period for the Paris 2024 Olympics has come to an end with the conclusion of the VNL Preliminary Phase. FIVB and Volleyball World are pleased to announce the 12 men’s national teams qualified. The Drawing on Lots will be held on June 26, in Łódź, Poland – click here to watch at Volleyball World.
Pools for the 12 teams competing in Women’s Volleyball in Paris have been drawn. Watch the announcement and explanation of the new round-robin format. The Paris 2024 volleyball matches will be held at the South Paris Arena in the French capital from July 27 to August 11 – schedule here.
Chase-ing Gold: Budinger’s journey from the NBA to Olympic beach volleyball
After former NBA player Chase Budinger retired in 2017, the small forward traded in the wooden floors of the gym for the sun-soaked sands of beach volleyball. In June 2024, Budinger and his partner Miles Evans qualified for the U.S. Olympic beach volleyball team.
The final five spots in each gender at the beach volleyball tournament of the Paris 2024 Olympics were filled with the conclusion of the Continental Qualifiers.
Now, with the 24 men’s and women’s spots taken, the last step before the start of the Games will be the Drawing of Lots, which will be held at the Olympic beach volleyball stadium in Champ-de-Mars Park at the foot of the iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris, on June 28. Watch here!
Season ticket deposits for LOVB’s inaugural 2025 season are now open. Teams are based in Atlanta, Austin, Houston, Madison, Omaha, and Salt Lake. There will be 8 matches scheduled for each home market.
League One Volleyball (LOVB) – the largest brand in youth volleyball with its professional volleyball league launching in the U.S. later this year – announced that it has entered into a partnership with SPANX. This marks SPANX’s first partnership in professional sports. The partnership will kick off with a series of initiatives aimed at supporting LOVB athletes through various stages of their journeys, from youth to professional. As part of this collaboration, LOVB pro athletes will be outfitted in SPANX apparel for pre-season events and public appearances beginning this summer.
U.S. Women Looking Forward after Finishing VNL The U.S. Women’s National Team finished the 2024 Volleyball Nations League with a 3-0 loss to Italy on Friday in Bangkok, Thailand. The U.S. Women (7-6) finished seventh at VNL and will return to Anaheim to prepare for the USA Volleyball Cup and the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
In its final tournament competition before the Summer Olympics in Paris, the U.S. Men’s National Team fell to Japan, 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-19) before a boisterous crowd in Manila, Philippines. The U.S. finished with a 5-7 record.
This Friday, the NCAA is hosting a webinar on NPI for Division III women’s volleyball coaches. The June 28 session goes from 1-2 pm ET, and will cover NPI specifics, regional rankings, and other policies associated with the change to NPI.
The DIII Championships Committee is recommending a two-year waiver of the Bylaw 31.3.5.1 (b), which requires the 500-mile proximity of institutions to the host site to take precedent over seeding and amendment to that bylaw that would eliminate the geographic proximity provisions in bracketing.
Nominate your top high school athletes for a chance to be recognized when the Watch Lists are released in August. Uncommitted athletes on watch lists will also be invited to attend the AVCA Phenom College Prep Program December 19-21, 2024, in Louisville, KY.
Four of the nation’s top collegiate volleyball teams – Kentucky, Louisville, Nebraska, and Wisconsin – will open the 2024 women’s season at the AVCA First Serve Showcase on Aug. 27 in Louisville, KY at the KFC Yum!
