My role as a High School & Club coach, High School Spanish teacher, and an Alliance Volleyball Club board member has allowed me to work with diverse populations and engage young athletes through the sport of volleyball. In the last 20 years, there has been a greater divide that has impacted access to quality volleyball programs. Club Volleyball is a very expensive sport that hasn't done enough to include athletes from all walks of life. Even in urban areas most clubs resides in the suburbs thus attracting higher socio-economical status clients. Without club volleyball we know it becomes a challenge to improve, develop, and gain recruiting exposure. The work of community engagement and belonging is multi-tiered; however, I want to share the strategies in which we have implemented at Alliance Volleyball Club and the great Nashville area.
