Alex Fitzmorris-Sorn is the AVCA Events and Research Specialist. She manages a number of awards programs, including: Girls High School All-America Awards and Watch List; Girls High School Best and Brightest; AVCA/MaxPreps Girls High School Player of the Week; AVCA/USAToday Girls High School Polls; and the AVCA Phenom Watch List. Additionally, she is in charge of the AVCA Phenom College Prep Program and the avcaVPI testing program. She is the staff contact for PulseVB and conducts AVCA surveys and research, most notably the annual AVCA Collegiate Salary Surveys.
Alex joined the AVCA staff in May 2020. Prior to joining the AVCA, Alex was a high school teacher, head volleyball coach, and club coach in Kansas City. Her background in high school athletics brings a unique perspective to the AVCA team, as does her passion for honoring and celebrating high school coaches and athletes on a national scale.
Alex competed for Morehead State University, the University of Arkansas, and Boston College during her collegiate volleyball career, graduating from Morehead State in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in History. Alex also holds a Master’s in Education in Health, Sports Administration, and Exercise Science from the University of Kansas. Outside of work, you’ll most likely find Alex and her husband going on adventures with their three sons.
