Kate Topley serves as Chief Growth and Membership Officer for the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), where she leads initiatives focused on advancing AVCA’s membership strategy, enhancing the member experience, and supporting the association’s mission to serve and grow the volleyball coaching profession. Known for her collaborative leadership style and commitment to inclusive, athlete- and coach-centered development, she is focused on building scalable data driven membership growth.
With more than a decade of experience in event management, operations, and community-centered leadership, Kate brings a detailed understanding of the sport paired with a data-informed, relationship-driven approach to growth. Her background spans collegiate athletics, club volleyball, and scholastic programs, giving her a uniquely comprehensive perspective on the needs of coaches, athletes, administrators, and partners throughout the volleyball community.
Prior to joining the AVCA in this role, Kate served as Director of Volleyball Operations at Stanford University, where she oversaw logistics, budgeting, event execution, and fan engagement for one of the nation’s premier volleyball programs. Her work included managing large-scale events, collaborating with marketing and promotions teams, and cultivating meaningful connections with alumni, fans, and the surrounding community.
Kate’s experience also includes more than a decade as a Club National Team Coach and Tournament Director, where she enhanced participant experience and supported program visibility and growth on a national stage. Earlier in her career, she held leadership roles within school athletics, including Athletic Director and Head Volleyball Coach, partnering with community stakeholders to secure sponsorships, expand programming, and ensure sustainable athletic opportunities.
