Renee Saunders was elected to the AVCA Board of Directors in the fall of 2024 and began serving as the AVCA High School/Interscholastic board representative since January 1, 2025. The High School/Interscholastic representative is charged with leading the high school volleyball coaching constituency along with serving as the lead for the AVCA High School Leadership Council (HSLC) made up of representatives from the AVCA’s Affiliate Partners, Signature Affiliate Partners, and Member Organizations.

In 2020, Renee’s predecessor and the HSLC established a set of “Pillars” that would guide the Council’s agenda to make volleyball matter in the high school volleyball community.

Other areas of focus:

• Adding other states and grassroots level organizations to the Affiliate Partner, Signature Affiliate Partner, and AVCA Member Organizations roster.
• Revival of the AVCA High School All-America Match
• Sustaining the AVCA Coach of the Year Super Clinic as a mainstay coaching education and engagement experience for the high school and junior volleyball community.
