Building LGBTQ+ community and connection in volleyball (presented by Sports Equality Foundation)
In this session our speakers will discuss how LGBTQ+ coaches and players have navigated team dynamics, job interviews, recruiting, and being “out” in the public-eye. This session is designed for LGBTQ+ coaches at every level of volleyball to learn from one another, get affirming resources, and connect with community members. Topics covered in this session will include: how to navigate “coming out” personally, professionally, and publicly at each stage of your career; how to teach DEI trainings on LGBTQ+ inclusion at your school or program; community connection opportunities for LGBTQ+ coaches; managing work life balance; living authentically at work; and managing negative recruiting. The Sports Equality Foundation is a volunteer-run non-profit that exists to empower LGBTQ+ athletes, coaches, and sports leaders through advocacy and peer support.
