Player Evaluation – Maneuvering in the World of Accountability

In an effort to create better lines of communication between coaches and players, a tool to help facilitate this learning is needed. I have created a Volleyball Skills & Tactics Player Evaluation Rubic to facilitate how coaches can assess their players through practices and matches. It can also be used by players to evaluate themselves as a way of reflecting on their own skills and level of play. The Rubic was fashioned after Charlotte Danielson's Framework for evaluating teachers in the classroom. The Rubic is written with narratives to describe each skill, and tactic. Coaches choose which narrative best fits their players in each category. I believe this is the starter for a larger conversation that helps to build better communication.
