NCVBCA Player of the Year
Each fall, the North Carolina Volleyball Coaches Association (NCVBCA) recognizes a Player of the Year in each NCHSAA school classification.
- NOMINATE ALL-REGION: October 12-16, 2026
- VOTE ALL-STATE & PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Oct. 26 - Nov. 2, 2026
- ANNOUNCEMENT - PLAYER OF THE YEAR: November 16, 2026
To qualify for consideration, a student-athlete must be nominated by a NCVBCA/AVCA varsity member head coach, and have received NCVBCA All-Region and All-State honors for the current season. The athlete should portray:
- Leadership – makes teammates better and elevates team performance
- Positive Attitude – shows respect to teammates, coaches, officials, and opponents
- Superior Skills – excels in multiple aspects of the game (passing, hitting, serving, defense, serve receive)
- Academic Achievement – maintains strong performance in the classroom
- Work Ethic – consistently works hard in the gym
NCVBCA/AVCA membership is required to nominate & receive NCVBCA & AVCA awards.
Player of the Year Selection Process
- Only All-Region student-athletes are eligible for All-State and Player of the Year
- NCVBCA varsity head coach members vote to determine All-State Teams and Player of the Year
- On the ballot, coaches must for their school class:
- Rank 12 student-athletes for All-State consideration
- Select one Player of the Year using a "Power Vote"
- Player of the Year is recognized in each NCHSAA school classification to the athlete with the highest total vote points, including "Power Votes."
- Player of the Year will be announced on November 17.

This award represents the pinnacle of individual achievement for a student-athlete in North Carolina high school volleyball. It honors exceptional leadership, sportsmanship, superior volleyball skills, academic achievement, and a strong work ethic—nominated and selected by NCVBCA varsity head coaches.
