Karch Kiraly is the New USA Men’s National Team Head Coach
USA Volleyball announced Karch Kiraly will transition to head coach of the U.S. Men’s National Team for the 2028 Olympic & Paralympic Quadrennial.
Kiraly transfers to the post with the current coach, John Speraw, having been named USA Volleyball’s president and CEO on October 1. Speraw served for 12 years as the Men’s National Team head coach.
“I am thrilled that Team USA’s greatest winner will be moving from the U.S. Women’s Team to lead the U.S. Men into LA 2028,” Speraw said. “I have complete and total trust in Karch’s process. He has a relentless work ethic, brilliant intellect and is a selfless teacher.”
AVCA Boys Showcase and Skills Clinic this December in Louisville. Registration currently open.
The 2024 AVCA Boys Showcase will take place at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday, December 21. The cost $99 per athlete prior to Friday, November 22.
*New for 2024* – The AVCA is offering a new opportunity for registered athletes. For an additional $25, athletes can take part in the AVCA Boys Showcase Clinic in the evening on Friday, December 20 at the convention center. Registered athletes will have a chance to learn and develop their skills with the guidance of elite men’s college coaches from across the country.
The AVCA recently announced three groups of recipients—College, Club, and Beach—of its 2024 Thirty Under 30 Awards. Congratulations to the following men’s and boys coaches:
King (Tennessee) failed to monitor its men’s and women’s volleyball programs when the former volleyball head coach violated ethical conduct rules by providing impermissible benefits to two men’s volleyball student-athletes and one women’s volleyball student-athlete, according to an agreement released by the Division II Committee on Infractions. Additionally, the head coach arranged for student-athletes to provide impermissible meals to prospects during their unofficial visits.

John Hawks, who was an assistant coach for UCLA from 2015-22 and head coach at Loyola University Chicago from 2022-24, has been named the third head coach in UCLA men’s volleyball history
Chris Schortgen has been named the first head coach for the Manhattan University Men’s Volleyball program.
Purdue Fort Wayne men’s volleyball head coach Donny Gleason announced two additions to the 2025 coaching staff: Jake Gleason and Jon Diedrich.
Quincy University announced Omar Sanchez as the new head coach of the men’s volleyball team. Sanchez comes to QU with nine years of collegiate volleyball coaching experience.
CSUN head men’s volleyball coach Theo Edwards has announced the hiring of Taylan Cook as an assistant coach on the Matadors’ 2025 coaching staff.
