Daniel Friend was elected to the AVCA Board of Directors in the fall of 2018 and began serving as NCAA Division I-II Men’s Representative on January 1, 2019. Dan is currently in his second term. This board seat is charged with leading the DI-II Men’s Head Coaches Committee and serving all National Collegiate Men’s member coaches. Dan’s goals for his term include:
Continue to drive conversations about the growth and expansion Men’s & Boys volleyball in all areas. This includes indoor college, boys club and high school, and men’s/boys beach volleyball.
Supporting and helping in the expansion of the NCAA Div I/II Bracket to 12 teams
Looking to adjust our Championships dates so they are not on the same weekend as Beach Championships, also working to change our start date to Martin Luther King Weekend so athletes have more of a break.
Continuing to bridge the gap in communication between Divisions, genders, and levels to help our game.
If there are other issues you think the AVCA should be focusing on at the National Collegiate Men’s level, please contact Daniel or AVCA Men’s staff liaison, Brad Wilson.
