Then AVCA President Mark Rosen appointed Nicolette Sanlin to the role of AVCA Diversity Development representative to the AVCA board effective January 1, 2019.
The role of this board position is to facilitate communication between the AVCA, the larger community of volleyball, other constituency groups, and partner organizations to engage diverse coaches as leaders in the volleyball coaching profession and foster their participation and advancement as leaders and coaches. This role will facilitate the execution of the AVCA Diversity Award program and ancillary programming, activities, and events designed to carry out the coach development and diversity initiatives of the AVCA.
Nickie’s focus remains:
Continuing the upward trajectory of the AVCA Diversity Award program and the commitment to ongoing support of the Program alumni.
Maintaining a sustainable model for funding the AVCA Diversity Award Program on a three-year operational cycle.
Being proactive and intentional in addressing the climate and progression of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in the AVCA, the volleyball community, and the larger community. With awareness, education, and dialogue serving as the catalysts.
