Leigh Barea was elected to the AVCA Board of Directors in the fall of 2024 and began serving as NCAA Division II Women’s Representative on January 1, 2025. This board seat is charged with leading the DII Head Coaches Committee and serving all Division II Women’s member coaches. Leigh’s goals for her term include:
Act as the conduit and mouthpiece across divisions to disseminate information and issues in an effort to create the best experience possible for our student-athletes
Help to continue the growth of volleyball, through media, conversations, and social media platforms
Ensure the coaches at the Division II level are heard and their voices are represented
Continue conversations regarding regionalization for Division II in an effort to provide fairness and improved access to the national championship
Stay on pace with evolution of the game, tactically and technologically, while still considering some of the budgetary constraints that many schools are experiencing
If there are other issues you think the AVCA should be focusing on at the Division II Women’s level, please contact Leigh or AVCA Division II staff liaison Pat Henderson.
