Marie Zidek was elected to the AVCA Board of Directors in the fall of 2022 and began serving as NCAA Division I Women’s Representative on January 1, 2023. This board seat is charged with leading the DI Head Coaches Committee and serving all Division I Women’s member coaches. Marie’s goals for her term include:
Create increased exposure opportunities for volleyball on linear and non-linear platforms.
Be an advocate for coaches on NCAA legislative proposals and make sure coaches have a voice in the process.
Evaluate the recruiting calendar including transfer portal windows and work to create a calendar that provides coaches a better work-life balance.
Continue assessment of the metrics used by the NCAA Volleyball Committee for tournament selection/seeding and discuss ways to improve the process.
Address the officiating shortage and be a partner in the recruitment and retention of volleyball officials.
If there are other issues you think the AVCA should be focusing on at the Division I Women’s level, please contact Marie or AVCA Division I staff liaison Jason Jones.
